What Do I Do When I Find a Pet?
If you’ve found a pet wearing a DocuPet tag please promptly follow the steps below:
1. Go to www.docupet.com, scroll down and enter the alphanumeric code on the back of the pet’s tag under “Have you found a lost pet?”.
2. You’ll be met with a message stating that a record connected to that tag was found (if the owner has set their privacy settings to allow their contact information to be shown, please reach out to them directly). Proceed to click on “Fill out a Found Pet Report”.
3. Fill in as much information in the report as you can.
4. Click “Submit Found Pet Report” to successfully submit the report.
DocuPet’s staff will then be in touch with you regarding the report and will also reach out directly to the owner of the found pet.
Please note, if you are unable to enter the HomeSafe™ tag code online, or cannot find a record of the tag online, please immediately reach out to DocuPet directly.

Every DocuPet tag comes engraved with a unique HomeSafe™ code associated with a pet. A HomeSafe™ code is critical in getting pets home safely and quickly, as it allows prompt identification of a pet when they are found and helps DocuPet get in touch with their owner or other secondary contacts to let them know where their pet is. Our HomeSafe™ program keeps lost pets out of shelters, making sure they return to their families safely.
