How Can I Tell If I Have A Duplicate Account?
When using DocuPet for the first time, it is important to avoid creating multiple accounts for one household. If you have ever received a license renewal reminder from DocuPet or your county/municipality, it is most likely that your license information will already be in our system. If a new account for the same household is created, rather than authenticating the existing account, there will then be a duplicate account in our system resulting in multiple renewal communications being sent to you.
We have some precautionary measures in place to help users avoid duplicate account creation:
Errors that will occur if a duplicate account is suspected:
1. Email Address is already on file: DocuPet allows your email address to be used on one account only. If your email address is already on an account you will receive the following error:
2. Pet owners are only able to license pets at one location, so creating an extra account and trying to add the same pets to the address associated with the account will cause an error. Duplicate accounts can cause confusion such as multiple renewal reminders for the same pets being sent out, even if those pets are licensed on one account, because they will not be licensed on the duplicate.
DocuPet accounts can only be merged by DocuPet if the two accounts have the same owner name and address. An account owner will need to call in to DocuPet to request their duplicate accounts be merged together.
